What I Believe: Eva Serrano

Eva Serrano
Assistant Professor of Foreign Languages
Eva Serrano believes in the transformative power of learning both inside and outside of the classroom. A first-generation college student, Eva is the daughter of a Mexican mother and Puerto Rican father, and has spent time exploring how her cultural identity shapes who she is. As the faculty advisor for the Aurora University Latin American Student Organization (LASO), a vibrant, active group on campus, Eva is often awe-struck by LASO members because of their deep desire to discover their inner leader and make a difference in their communities. As a mom of a 20-year old, Eva also deeply values conversations with her son where he tries to make meaning of the world around him.
