Aurora University
Division III Athletics

Mission Statement

  1. Aurora University is committed to provide the highest quality coaching and facilities as is possible for its student athletes as it encourages participation and supports students in their efforts to reach high levels of academic and athletic performance.
  2. Aurora is also committed to a philosophy of firm institutional control of athletics, and to the unquestioned academic and financial integrity of the athletic program. The educational values and practices, outlined in the mission statement of the university, determine the standards by which the intercollegiate athletic program is conducted.
  3. The admission of and the eligibility of the student-athletes to participate in intercollegiate athletics is based on their demonstrated ability of being successful in a course of study leading to an academic degree.
  4. The welfare, health, and safety of student-athletes are primary concerns of the athletic department. Every student-athlete, male and female, in all sports will receive equitable and fair treatment.
  5. Student-athletes will receive the same treatment as other students. Rights and opportunities that would be available to them as non-athletes will not be denied. Similarly, student-athletes will have no unique privileges in admission, academic advising, course selection, grading, living accommodations or financial aid.
  6. The Aurora University athletic department insists upon, applauds, and encourages sportsmanship, fair play and respect of its opponents and game officials by Aurora University coaches, staff, student-athletes, and fans in every phase of intercollegiate competition.
  7. Primary emphasis and appropriate competitive opportunities will be made available with student athletes from similar institutions through in-season competition. Exceptional teams and individuals may be encouraged to participate in postseason championships.
  8. The Aurora University Intercollegiate Athletic Department is controlled, financed, and staffed through the same general procedures as other departments of the university.
