The 2007 football season looks very promising for Aurora University as third year head coach Rich Duncan looks to improve on lasts season’s 5-2 conference record. Overall, Duncan’s record with the Spartans is 10-10 in two seasons at the helm.
Duncan came to AU from Loras College in Iowa, where he served as the Offensive Coordinator and Offensive Line Coach for the past four seasons.
Duncan also spent four seasons as an Assistant Football Coach at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville (UWP) from 1997 to 2000. He was Offensive Coordinator and Offensive Line Coach for the Pioneers in 1997 and 1998, while serving as UWP's Defensive Coordinator his last two campaigns at the school. Duncan was also the Pioneers' Head Baseball Coach. Prior to joining the UWP staff, Duncan was an Assistant Football Coach (offensive line and special teams) for Capital University in Ohio from 1995 to 1997, and at the University of Massachusetts-Lowell from 1992 to 1995. His players broke 20 offensive records at Capital, and set UMass-Lowell rushing records for single game and season. He was also a football intern for Manchester College in Indiana in 1991. In addition, he served as the Assistant Athletic Director at Capital, overseeing the administration of winter and spring home athletic events.
Duncan is a 1990 graduate of Bethany College with a bachelor’s degree in sociology with teaching certification. He earned his master’s degree in athletic administration from Loras College in 2006.
Rich is married to Karen and the couple has two children, Molly and Jake.

Rob
Erickson
Defensive Coordinator/Linebackers

Rob Erickson will enter his third season with the AU football program as the defensive coordinator. Erickson came to AU from the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point where he served as the defensive coordinator/secondary position coach in 2004 and as the secondary position coach in 2003. Prior to that he was coaching at his alma mater, University of Wisconsin – Platteville, where he served as the outside linebacker coach (2002). Before his collegiate coaching experience, Erickson spent two seasons at Stevens Point Area Senior High (SPASH).
Erickson played four years of collegiate football at University of Wisconsin – Platteville, where he was a team captain (1999), a four-year starter at free safety, and led the team in interceptions in 1997-1999. He played high school football at SPASH.
Erickson earned a master’s degree in education in 2005 and his bachelor’s degree in education in 2003, both from University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point. Erickson and his wife, Kelly, have one daughter, Maya and one son, Jared.

Luke Cutkomp is entering his third season with the AU football program. Cutkomp came to AU from Carroll College where he served as the defensive line coach for two seasons. Prior to that he was a student assistant coach at his alma mater, Wartburg College, where he served as the defensive line – linebackers – tight ends student assistant coach.
Cutkomp was a tight end on Wartburg’s 1999 Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship team and is a member of the American Football Coaches Association. He earned his bachelor of arts degree in elementary education from Wartburg College in 2003 and his masters degree in Education from Carroll College, Waukesha, WI, in May 2007.

Jason Wagner
Offensive Coordinator/Offensive Line

Jason Wagner enters his third season at AU as the offensive line coach and first as the Spartan offensive coordinator. Wagner will also serve as AU’s strength and conditioning coordinator.
Prior to joining the Spartans, Wagner was an assistant football coach at Coe College for one season, where he assisted with the offensive line. Before his stint at Coe, Wagner spent six years at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, two as an assistant coach and four as a player. As a student-athlete at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens-Point, Wagner was an offensive lineman, helping lead the Pointers to three WIAC Conference titles and two appearances in the NCAA National Championship playoffs. Wagner was a two-time First-Team All-Conference Offensive lineman, a First and Third-Team All-Region selection and an All-American in 2000.
Wagner earned his bachelors degree in Health Promotions/Wellness from University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. He earned his master’s degree in Sports Management from California University of Pennsylvania in 2006.
Jason and his wife, Jen reside in Yorkville, IL. Jen is an athletic trainer employed by ATI Physical Therapy who currently does outreach to Aurora University.

Ray Borgman
Tight Ends
Ray Borgman enters his first year at Aurora University. He brings seven years of football coaching experience with him. He has coached at a variety of levels in Hebron, IL, Wilmot, WI, and Sycamore, IL.
Borgman played parts of two seasons with Elmhurst College earning one varsity letter. Ray graduated from Fulton High School in 1995 where he earned several awards and distinctions in both football and baseball.
Borgman earned his bachelor of science in physical education at Elmhurst College in 2000. He is currently pursuing a MAEL at AU.
Borgman and his wife, Brianne, have one son, Jonathan, and reside in Montgomery, IL.

Jimmy Hunt
Wide Receivers
Jimmy Hunt joins the AU coaching staff as a Wide Receivers Coach. Hunt returns to the AU football program, having played in the Spartan program as a wide receiver from 2003-2006.
He played in four seasons earning two varsity letters with Aurora University. Hunt was named Honorable Mention Illini- Badger Football Conference in 2006.
Hunt earned his bachelor of arts in criminal justice at Aurora University in 2007.

Justen Lehr
Running Backs
Justen Lehr enters his first year at Aurora University. He brings coaching experience through a variety of different sports.
He participated in four seasons earning two varsity letters with Aurora University. Lehr was a two time Illini-Badger Football Conference All-Conference selection and the winner of the 2004 Aurora Football GUT award. Lehr graduated from Harvard High School in 2001 and received numerous honors and awards in baseball, football, and wrestling.
Lehr currently teaches physical education at Aurora Central Catholic High School and serves as the head varsity wrestling coach.
Lehr earned his bachelor of arts in physical education at Aurora University in 2005.

Rich Swann
Defensive Backs
Rich Swann enters his first year at Aurora University. He brings 18 years of coaching experience with him from Aurora Central Catholic. Throughout his years at Aurora Central Catholic, Swann spent his time coaching baseball, basketball, and football.
In the 18 years of coaching, Swann spent six years as Head Baseball Coach, 12 as an assistant baseball coach, six years as Football Defensive Coordinator and seven years as Assistant Football Coach.
