- Oakhurst
Forest Preserve
The Oakhurst Forest Preserve, located
7.5 miles from campus, serves as the training area for Wednesday
afternoon practices and is the venue for the AU Spartan XC Classic,
held in early September. Oakhurst's network of trails offer ideal
training surfaces. The mowed grass, dirt forest and crushed limestone
trails of Oakhurst provides AU runners with a scenic setting as
they train for competition.
- V.
Gilman Trial
The Virgil L. Gilman Trail, located 1/2
mile from campus, serves as a regular training site for the cross
country teams. The tree-lined asphalt trail has half-mile markers
and runners have access to over 20 miles of trail network. The
Gilman Trail reaches from the Fox River in downtown Aurora on it's
eastern-most edge, to Waubonsee Community College on the west side
of Kane county. The trail passes through Bliss Woods and railroad
bridges along it's route.
- Aurora Country
Club
The Aurora Country Club, located 1/2 mile from
campus, serves as the training area on Monday afternoons throughout
the fall. The beautiful rolling hills and soft surface of the golf
course provides an outstanding training site for AU runners. Few
collegiate programs in the country can claim to have a better setting
to start their training week.
