Homecoming 2003 Alumni Awards
Outstanding Alumni Award:
Paul
Staudenmaier, GWC '55
Paul Staudenmaier graduated from George Williams College
in 1955 and went on to a long career with the Boys and Girls Club
organization. He was executive director of the Boys and Girls Club
of Duluth for 20 years and now, in retirement, is active with the
Paul Staudenmaier Boys and Girls Club of Duluth Foundation, which
was named in his honor when he retired.

Juanita
Guidry Copeland, GWC '73
Juanita attended George Williams College at the Downers
Grove campus and received her bachelor of science degree in 1973.
After graduation, Juanita's careers included corporate training
and management development for Fortune 500 companies such as American
Express and McDonald's. She became a hazardous waste compliance
officer within the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ).
A subsequent promotion led Juanita to assume responsibilities for
Environmental Justice and the Native American tribal programs coordination
for the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality.

Distinguished Alumni Award:
Armand
Ball, Jr., GWC '60
Armand Ball earned his master's degree in group work
administration from George Williams College and went on to a life-long
career of working with camps and service organizations. Currently,
Ball is a consultant with Alpha Beta Consultants in Florida, where
he and his wife work with camps and organizations both in the US
and abroad in areas of camp management, financial development, marketing,
personnel, and risk management.

David
W. Parke, AC '48
David Parke earned his bachelor's degree in science
at Aurora College. His continued schooling and residency led David
to a license to practice ophthalmology in the states of Ohio, Maryland,
and Connecticut. Parke has worked as a consulting ophthalmologist
for the Connecticut State Board of Education and Services for the
Blind since 1992. He is a consultant and director of Low Vision
Rehabilitation at Masonic Healthcare Center, an active staff member
at Yale New Haven Hospital, and a professor of ophthalmology at
Yale University School of Medicine.

Outstanding Graduate School Alumni Award:
Daniel
Bridges, AU '98
Daniel Bridges received his Master of Arts in Education Leadership
(MAEL) from Aurora University. He has been the principal of Harold
G. Fearn Elementary School in North Aurora since 2000. Bridges has
been selected to assist in the design, construction, and programming
of a new middle school to be built on Deerpath Road in Aurora. There,
he will serve as principal and will oversee the extension of the
immersion school model to the secondary school.

Roger K. Parolini Lifetime Achievement Award:
Howard
Towne, AC '53
Anna May Towne, AC '50
Anna May and Howard Towne graduated from Aurora College
in 1950 and 1953, respectively. The couple spent nearly 30 years
helping poor and indigenous adults, families, and children in the
Philippines. In their missionary work, the Townes managed a rural
development project and training center that addressed agricultural
alternatives, cooperative economics, health, and hygiene.
