The Office of Alumni Relations is organizing affinity groups to keep alumni with similar backgrounds and interests connected. Let us know about your student activities by e-mailing us at alumni@aurora.edu.
University Archives Seeks Alumni Volunteer
If you like to rummage through old papers and photographs, and don’t mind a little dust, you might enjoy volunteering in the university archives. We are looking for individuals to help with some preservation work — place documents and photos in acid-free folders; humidify and flatten tightly rolled photos and documents; identify photographs and scan them; and a myriad of other tasks. To volunteer, contact Anne McKearn, Archivist, at amckearn@aurora.edu or 630-844-8891.
Fun Fact About Your Alma Mater: Did You Know?
Aurora College fielded a football team during its first fall semester in 1912. There was no athletic budget, no eligibility requirement, no coach, and many of the students had never played football before. However, they had a lot of enthusiasm and faculty support. The team’s first game was played on October 9, 1912, against West Aurora High School. West High won by a score of 14-2.
