Transfer Student Admission Requirements

The admission requirements for transfer students are as follows:

  • Complete 15 semester hours of transferable work
  • Earn a cumulative grade point average of at least a 2.0 at previous colleges/universities
  • Submit an application and official transcripts (high school transcripts are required for applicants with less than 30 semester hours)

The following academic programs have additional requirements for admission:  College of Education, School of Nursing and School of Social Work.  Please click on your area of interest for more details.  

How do your credits transfer?

Aurora University will only accept credit if it meets the following criteria:

  • Earned from regionally accredited schools
  • Has a grade of at least a C-
  • Compares to credit offered at AU
  • Applies to programs offered by AU

Aurora University will accept up to 68 transferable credit hours from community colleges. Students who have earned an associate's (A.A./A.S.) degree from a regionally accredited college may have met all lower-division general education requirements. Students who do not have an associate's degree will be required to complete all AU general education requirements, either through transfer coursework and/or AU coursework.
