CHECKLIST FOR ADMISSION OF INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

Admission Process

- Complete and sign the International Student form. This form must be accompanied with a $25 non-refundable application fee. The fee must be sent in the form of a certified check or money order made payable to “Aurora University” in U.S. dollars.
- Official transcripts from schools attended in the United States must be sent directly to the Office of Admission as part of the admission process. Undergraduate applicants must request official transcripts from all secondary and/or post-secondary schools. Graduate applicants must request official transcripts from all post-secondary schools.
- Certified copies of all official transcripts from international schools attended must be sent directly to the Office of Admission as part of the admission process.
- Official certified evaluations of all academic transcripts from international schools attended must be evaluated by one of the following companies: Educational Credential Evaluators, Inc. (ECE); World Education Service (WES); Center for Educational Documentation (CED). Evaluations must be sent directly to the Office of Admission.
- Official proof of English competency. All applicants educated outside of the U.S. from non-native speaking countries must submit proof of English competency. Official TOEFL scores (minimum 550 on paper version, 213 or higher on the computer-based test, and 79 or higher on the internet-based test) or Official IELTS test score (minimum 7.0) or Official ELS scores (level 112) must be sent directly to the Office of Admission.
- ACT or SAT Standardized Test Results. International students applying for undergraduate admission from English- speaking countries must submit an official score report from the American College Test (ACT) – minimum composite score of 19; or the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) – minimum composite score of 910.
- References: Three letters of academic or professional recommendations are required for all international student applicants.
- Statement of Financial Resources: International students applying for an I-20 Student Visa must submit the Statement of Financial Resources form required by U.S. federal law. This form must be signed and notarized and be accompanied by an original letter from a bank official certifying the availability of funds for study at Aurora University. Those who complete the admission requirements above and receive approval for admission must submit a $1,000 non-refundable deposit to be applied to the first semester’s tuition following registration. NOTE: Students requiring an I-20 will not be eligible for need-based financial aid.
- Evidence of Immigration Status: For international applicants currently in the U.S. or holding a valid U.S. Visa, please submit a copy of the current visa page(s) and I-94 card in your passport, or a copy of your Alien Registration card (front and back). If students are transferring from another academic institution in the U.S., their current academic institution must complete an I-20 transfer to Aurora University. The AU applicant must provide their current school with a copy of their AU acceptance letter.
- Additional Documentation for Graduate Students: Additional materials may be required for graduate programs. Please contact the Center for Adult and Graduate Studies at (630) 844-5294 or AUAdmission@aurora.edu for more information.
- Medical Forms and Health Insurance: (required for admitted applicants prior to enrollment at AU). All international students are required to submit a medical form (required by Illinois state law), with complete immunization records, to the University Wellness Center prior to registering for classes. International students who are admitted to Aurora University are required to purchase health insurance for an additional cost, unless they currently have a U.S. insurance provider and proof of insurance is to be submitted.
