Disabilities Services at Aurora University
Services Offered
A major function of the office is addressing the needs of students with
disabilities. Students who provide appropriate documentation of learning
disabilities, physical disabilities, or psychological disabilities are
able to receive a range of services. These services have included:
- Tutoring for all courses and in developing skills in test taking,
note taking, and time management
- Testing accommodations, such as extended time or a distraction free
environment
- Readings provided on cassette or scanned onto disk
- Access to on-campus computers equipped with voice software (Jaws,
Kurzweil), scanners, and
software for enlarging text (Zoom Text)
- Assistive technology, such as an Optelec projector and FM hearing
systems
- Classroom accommodations, such as the use of tape recorders or notetakers,
or making reasonable adaptations of the physical environment of the
classroom or the faculty member's presentation of materials.
The Center for Teaching & Learning also has an available budget for sign language interpreters
or other professional services.
