Exploratory Studies (Undecided)

Choosing a major is an important choice. At AU, we want to make sure you have the time, resources, and personalized support to make that decision. That's why we created the Exploratory Studies program, which offers a curated experience that helps you choose a major that aligns with your interests and career goals.

What is the Exploratory Studies program at AU?

Exploratory Studies allows you to explore different major options with the help of your academic advisor, career counselors, and the director of general education. Starting from your first visit to campus, we will work with you to identify how your strengths, interests, and values can be translated into a purposeful life and fulfilling career.

Through the Exploratory Studies program, you will complete a series of activities designed to help you choose your major, including:

  • Meeting with your academic advisor to discuss major options and create a schedule that allows you to explore courses in your areas of interest.
  • Utilizing AU’s Career Services to complete career planning workshops, assessments, and activities.
  • Working with your First Year Experience instructor to determine your short- and long-term goals.

With more than 60 outstanding academic programs available to you and the support and guidance of AU’s faculty and staff, it won’t take long for you to settle into a major that is just right for you.
