Rules Governing the Issuance of Transcripts

  1. Requests must be in writing. A student's academic record is considered confidential. Therefore, transcripts will be issued only at the written request of an individual student, or appropriate institutions or officials, in writing.
  2. Personal official copies may be issued. However, such copies will be stamped "Issued to Student" and generally are not valid as a basis for admission to another school.
  3. High school grades and test scores are not transmitted on transcripts.
  4. Grades, GPAs and drop status are accurate as of the day of issue.
  5. Aurora University cannot release or provide copies of transcripts issued to it from another institution. Please contact the original institution or testing agency for copies.
  6. Academic dismissal is reported on all transcripts.
  7. Transcripts will be withheld until the student's financial record with the university is clear. Until such time as that occurs, transcripts will only be issued to potential employers if financial arrangements have been approved. Transcripts issued in such cases will be stamped "For Potential Employment Use Only."

What is an official transcript?

Official transcripts bear the signature of the Registrar and seal of the university and are used for purposes of transfer of credit, certification or employee reference.

Each transcript is issued as a complete and accurate copy of the student's academic record as of the date of issue. It contains a record of all work attempted at Aurora University, together with a notation as to final grades earned, or drop status achieved, in each course. It shows a summary of credit hours accepted in transfer from other colleges or universities. Grade-point averages are computed and reported with appropriate explanation as to the means of calculation.

How much does an official transcript cost?

  • The first two transcripts issued are free of charge; all others will be issued at the rate of $8.00 per transcript, effective July 1, 2006.
  • All over-the-counter transcripts — defined as same-day service — will carry a surcharge and cost of $15.00 per transcript, effective July 1, 2006.
