Basic Skills Test Reviews
Until recently, the Aurora University Center for Teaching & Learning has held a series of seminars designed to help students prepare prior to each Illinois State Board of Education's Basic Skills Test date. Education and social work students who plan to work in the public school system are required to pass this five-hour test as the first step toward certification.
As of Fall 2009, Aurora University's College of Education has taken responsibility for these sessions. You are encouraged to contact that office at 630-844-5427. Typically, the talks are offered in a series of 2-hour blocks on Saturday mornings and weekday evenings.
All attendees are requested to print out the online Basic Skills Test Study Guide found at www.icts.nesinc.com and bring it to the sessions. The Center for Teaching & Learning also tutors current students and alumni one-on-one for the test. If you are interested in meeting with a tutor, call 630-844-5520 to set an appointment.
If you are planning to take the test and have not yet registered through the Illinois Certification Testing System, please visit its Web site at www.icts.nesinc.com for test registration and other pertinent information.
