Internship Information for Students
For Credit Internships
Consider making an internship a part of your academic experience. Internship experience is critical when it comes to finding your first full-time professional job post-degree. Employers look for job candidates that have industry related experience. One way to gain that valuable experience is through an internship.
An internship is not only an opportunity to continue to learn new skills and expertise; it is also an opportunity to put into practice concepts and theories learned in the classroom. You can expect, then, to learn what it takes to be a successful professional while beginning to make meaningful contributions to the workplace. Your internship experience is an important addition to your résumé, a step toward achieving your career goal, and an opportunity to build your professional network. For more information about how to secure an internship please see the Internship Information Packet.
Did you know that almost 70% of internships turn into full time job offers, according to the National Association of Colleges and Employers?
On-Campus/Spartan Internships
On-campus internships, or Spartan Internships, offer opportunities for students to gain knowledge and experience on potential career paths and professional development while working for a campus department. Spartan Internships are recommended for students seeking work with a higher level of responsibility than traditional Student Work Corps positions. Spartan Internships can be completed for academic credit (Internship Information Packet) or as paid positions; the rate of pay for Spartan Internships varies by department.
