Aurora University has a proud history of musical performance and study. Students of all majors are encouraged to take their place in the continuous growth Aurora offers. All AU Students, undergrads and graduate students alike, can sing in one of the three choirs, play in pep band, take private lessons in piano, organ, voice, and wind instruments.
A Music Minor is currently offered with a major (B.A.) to be offered in the very near future.
Any study in music deepens understanding and skill and transforms one’s perspective of how this form of social communication binds people across countries, cultures, ages and eras. The music minor ensures that study is broadly covered and allows for opportunities for students to delve deeper in areas that interest them.
If you have experience as a performer, or would like to work with others to prepare for public musical performances, set up an audition for an ensemble and or applied lessons at the start of the semester during Welcome Week or the first week of school. If you have always wanted to learn to play or sing, sign up for a beginning course in voice or piano. Music Appreciation, Opera History, World Music allow for all students to gain knowledge and critical thinking skill about an art form that is present in every day of our lives.
