The Master of Science in Nursing programs, offered at our Aurora and Woodstock campuses, are designed for nurses who are interested in stepping into leadership roles in the health care field.
You can choose to pursue the administration track or the nurse educator track. In both programs, you’ll work with expert faculty to gain an understanding of policy, research and scientific inquiry, informatics and advanced clinical practice. The administration track includes the study of organizational theory, the business of health care and human resources, while the nurse educator track focuses on curriculum development, assessment and other issues in nursing education.
The MSN program is specially designed to meet the unique needs of the adult learner. Classes are offered one evening a week in eight-week blocks, and the practicum experiences are scheduled for a full semester to allow students ample time to complete the requirements. Most students complete the program in two-and-a-half years, or eight semesters.
Program overview
In the MSN program, you will complete 38 hours of study, including:
- 29 semester hours of foundation nursing courses, which include clinical experience and practicum built into many of the courses
- Three- hour master’s thesis or research project
- Six semester hours of courses in either the administration or nurse educator track
