David Dial assumed the role as Director of the Criminal Justice program at AU in August 2012 after a 45 year career in law enforcement. Mr. Dial began his career as a beat officer in California and retired after serving 22 years as the Chief of Police of Naperville, Illinois. Mr. Dial’s tenure highlighted the importance of technology and adaptability in law enforcement as he witnessed the rise of issues such as cyber-crime, the threat of terrorism, and increased drug usage. His goal at AU is to develop students into criminal justice practitioners who are exceptionally qualified to meet these and future challenges.
