Teaching Philosophy
Teaching is a wonderfully challenging profession. Effective teaching requires a commitment to the students, enthusiasm and passion, effective communication skills, flexibility, and on-going reflection. I believe in creating and providing students differentiated and engaging instruction in an open and inviting learning community where students are motivated to learn and lead. I encourage critical, creative, and bold thinking, problem solving, and questioning. I believe learning takes place within a social context and students learn more through active interactions and participation. As a teacher, I share the responsibility for learning with the students. I want my classrooms to be a place where each student is respected and diversity is celebrated. I believe that the interaction between teaching and learning is an intricate one. As a teacher I see myself as a facilitator of learning.
