Dr. Rebecca L. Sherrick has served as president of Aurora University since 2000. With campuses in Aurora, Illinois, and Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, the institution educates over 4,000 students enrolled in baccalaureate, continuing education and advanced degree programs. The university draws upon the rich legacies and distinctive traditions of its predecessor institutions, Aurora College and George Williams College, to provide its students with “transformative learning experiences” in a wide array of liberal arts and professional disciplines.

Before assuming the presidency of AU, Sherrick served for 20 years as a member of the history department faculty and the senior administration of Carroll University in Waukesha, Wisconsin. She earned a bachelor’s degree in history, summa cum laude, from Illinois Wesleyan University (IWU) in Bloomington, Illinois, in 1975. IWU recognized her achievements with the awarding of an honorary doctoral degree in 2001. Sherrick completed her Ph.D. in history from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, with specializations in American and Latin American history.
